Parentline support offered
Our services

The list below sets out all the Parentline Plus services for parents.

Parentline - 0808 800 2222
Available seven days a week, 24 hours a day, our free confidential Parentline is staffed by trained volunteers, all of whom have parenting experience. We offer information and support, and the chance to talk through the issues facing parents.
Textphone - 0800 783 6783
Available for people who are deaf, hard of hearing or have a speech impairment. Like the Parentline, this service provides opportunities to get support on being a parent. This service is open 9am – 5pm, Monday to Friday.
"Without Parentline Plus we would have been lost. It’s a lifeline for families like ours – they helped us through a terrible time."

Parents Together groups and workshops
Parentline Plus groups and workshops give parents tools and ideas to build closer relationships with their children and to help their children to make the most of life. The groups and workshops address issues that we know parents want support with such as:

Groups may also be run via the telephone and are particularly useful for parents who:

"It was so helpful to find positive ways of dealing with negative situations. Now I think about things before acting."

Information, outreach and public awareness

Our information leaflets are designed to meet parents’ concerns identified through our other services. Outreach ensures that as many parents as possible know of our services, whilst our media work means we can reach many thousands more, giving easy access to information.

Email support

The unique Parentline Plus email support service enables parents to email their concerns online. The service is secure and confidential and every parent receives a personal response by a trained worker.

A voice for parents
Our service gives us unrivalled, direct information on the concerns and needs of parents and carers. Through analysis of our helpline call data and research, we identify the experiences of parents and carers and work to influence family policy, both on a national, local and regional basis.

"My daughter runs away from home and doesn’t come back for days. Her father died two years ago, and since then she’s gone off the rails, smoking and drinking and in with the wrong lot. I can do nothing with her."

"I had an overwhelming sense of relief and reassurance... because I didn't know anything like this existed."

"Thank you for your email. I have enjoyed reading the tips and will try to use them."

"I wanted to find out how other people raised a multicultural family. The Parentline Plus website gave me the chance to share my struggles with other parents, and get back some useful tips."
